Retreat @Changi Fairy Village Apr. 4th, 2007 @ 12:30 pm
Spent a day at this "Masters of the Sea' looking Mansion for a company retreat! Yes those stupid ones complete with "team building games" & Strategic forward planning presentations.

The theme was "Hawaii". Was prob the only dude who dressed to theme and during the prize presentation. The committee claimed that no one was dressed in theme & hence the "Best Dressed" prize was relegated to the pool for lucky draw. WTF???

All is not lost, I won one of the best prizes around (other than the 3D2N Krabi holiday or i.pod video which i already have)... a CSI hamper, complete with a boardgame, the latest season of each of the CSI franchise, soundtracks, cap, lanyard and CSI scotch-tape!! Woohoo......

» Speak of the Devil......

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

» The Dance Floor
The feeling of seeing my name on the rolling credit for the first time..... it was euphoric.

I can only say this.... i was jaded myself at the endless stream of reality programmes in the box. But having been to some recordings of the dance floor, my colleagues & I were ... well...floored!

Its honestly entertaining. The dancers made tremendous improvements since the auditions. The DF judges make the Sg Idol judges look like juveniles. It helps that they look good & don't sound like they're on crack half the time. *enough of ja-vinci codes*

The judges will be introduced this Sunday, 8pm, Ch5 & you'll have a sneak at some of the good dancers. But be prepared to be really entertained when the competition starts proper.

I'll be sure to blog about it then!

» Hits & Misses Last Weekend
While I missed out on THE 2 parties of the year... Sassy & Fairy Tale Christmas... I had a rocking good time in Penang myself... hmmph

Teaming up with the rowers from HP, HSBC, OCBC, Seahawk, we gave the Malaysian & local tertiary teams (NTU, NUS, NP, RP, NJC, TP) a run for their money. After putting up a good fight... the guy team got a silver in the Men's Open Minor finals, & the ladies got a bronze for the Women's Finals.
DISCOVERIES......
Lor mee (my fav staple) in Penang is similar to Singapore's (Black) but lor mee in Petaling Jaya is white........The best food in Penang is not in Gurney Drive but right in front of my hotel's (Sunway) doorstep....... I never knew I can down 3 bowls of chendol in 1 sitting & still crave for more..... FOS makes shopping such a pleasure........Oysters in Penang are bigger..... Waking up @5am for a race is no fun..... Watching sunrise w/o Oysterom is not the most romantic.....

» TMD
I'm not swearing.... even though I think I should be. TMD here refers to a condition known as Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD). Its also something that I discovered today I'm suffering from.
TMD is a collective term embracing a group of dental & medical conditions that involve the jaw joints, chewing muscles & associated structures. Basically, my x-ray shows that my right temporomandibular joint connecting my lower jaw to my skull is degenerating very fast. Its caused my teeth to misalign. With this also comes constant tension headaches, ear pain, ringing sounds, dizziness, clicking & popping sounds when i open my jaws, bite problems, NECK & SHOULDER PAIN!!!

THis is a warning to you guys out there who clench your teeth (esp when stressed) , grind 'em, chew gum etc..... well, DON'T! TMD affects 70% of the population, but 15% of which are considered serious & require medical attention. I'm suay enough to be that minute % of lucky winners.

Had to do a splint which set me back S$765 (including consult & GST). Something that I will have to wear potentially for the rest of my life during my sleep, or stressful moments. *faint*
Below is my list of do's & dont's:
- Avoid clenching & grinding your teeth. Constantly remind yourself to relax your jaw; teeth apart, muscle relaxed
- Avoid chewy or hard foods
- Avoid chewing gum, biting your nails or other objects (???)
- Avoid eating on the side that hurts when you chew

- Stifle your yawn to prevent mouth from opening too wide... (haha)
- Cut your food into smaller pieces
- Avoid long dental appt.. (uh huh)

And ways of coping with stress, posture, exercise etc......

Gosh.......
» I am a star......

You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.

» Lonely
Today was a shitty day....

Like my colleague would say ,"no on takes u seriously zac!"

I should never have bounced back to office the minute I had my arm wrapped up in the hosital. I should've winced in pain and not have my MC reduced to 7 days.

I should be allowed to demand a bit more sympathy, a bit less neglect & whine all I can.... I should....... So let me be....

» Pardon... Are you a Japanese Footballer...?
Just got back from a brilliant 12days holiday to Turkey with Oysterom. Needless to say, its one of our best holiday yet. The sights, the people.... gorgeous. Every sight & sound is brimming with cultural influences from age old.

On the 2nd day in Istanbul, we checked out the Grand Bazaar which really is an historical maze under the disguise of a Megamall. There're easily over 4,000 stalls in the world's largest covered bazaar.

"Inamoto!" I heard someone from the Goldsmith vendor bellowing out to me. I turned around & smiled. I thought that's what they would call to get my attention as I easily get mistakened as Japanese, maybe this time they mistook me for that cute footballer. Instantly, images of Inamoto downloaded to my central processor. I recall I preferred his boyish good looks to Nakata's model good looks. It helped that he scored 2 amazing goals in 2002's World Cup.

Suddenly there was a whole barrage of "Inamoto" coming my way. I then dismissed it & told Oysterom that its just their way of calling any Japanese boy. Oysterom looked puzzled. "Inamoto's the Japanese soccer player, think they're just trying to get my attention."

It wasn't till much later that I realised many of the locals were looking at me funny, whispering among themselves & mutturing "Inamoto" under their breath that I realised this could be a serious case of mistaken identity. The last I recall Inamoto is still with the English Premier League, these people must really love soccer!!

The following night, while trodding through dangerously lonely & steep slopes, a little girl rushed up to me & asked, " pardon, what is your name?" I laughed. "I'm sorry?!" She blushed... & continued meekly, "football?" Now I'm puzzled & when it finally struck me i innocently smiled & blurted,"Inamoto?" She smiled, slowed her pace and receeded back into the lonely shadows.

Ok, this is serious business now. I have to find out if Inamoto is outta EPL. Did he join another FC? Is he playing for Turkey or some neighbor? Is he friend or foe? National hero or enemy? Yikes! The next few days before I finally realised he's Turkey's new poster boy, I was intensely stressed second guessing what was behind the locals' smiles, whispers or blatant stares.

Come to think of it, I'm immensely flattered. Maybe the Turks can't tell an asian face from another but come to think of it. We do have much in common. Okumura & Inamoto. Apart from the fact that he's 1.81m & devlishly handsome. ;(

We hardly sport black hair

We have the same crooked smile & our mouths curve south like a reversed U

I just wish I look every inch the Champion that he does! Hehe.....

This is very potentially embarrassing but if you so happen to be a reader of Citta Bella, you may come across some familiar face/ faces in the latest issue.....

If you happen to flip thru the mag, you may come across yours truly embedded in one of the glossies.

Your support will be truly appreciated. Pick up a copy and vote for me k..... each copy comes with a peck on the cheek! *muacks*
» Garden of Good & Evil
Finally a garden to call my own! Thanks to rupertstreet & oysterom, it was a 'fruitful' trip to the Sembawang nursery. Who would've thought plants & trees would set me back by a cool $1.5K. But its all worth it. Next up, how to decorate the rest of the courtyard!

ADRIAN CHAN
